Industry: Linking industry with University students in Queensland and NSW (Participating Uni’s: QUT, UQ, USQ, USYD)

Overview:
CEED Program Qld links companies / government with final year undergraduate (and coursework Masters) students from QUT, UQ, USQ and USydney, for completion of company research, development and/or improvement projects.

Students undertake these industry-based projects as part of their university coursework (receiving a scholarship and credit points/units towards their degree). They are also assessed on the project results.

Organisations are encouraged to provide projects that will provide them with research and/or commercial value, along with meeting the student’s need for training and industry experience.  Clients choose their student/s via an application and interview process.  CEED facilities this selection process for clients, to ensure that a good ‘match’ is achieved.

Initially, organisations register their project/s with CEED (at www.corptech.com.au), for advertising to the relevant students at QUT (Queensland University of Technology), UQ (University of Queensland), USQ (University of Southern Queensland), or USYD (University of Sydney).

CEED Program is wholly funded by industry - through a project fee paid by clients, for each project.  The all-inclusive fee covers the student scholarship, insurances, management fee, academic supervisor stipend, and administration costs.  Since 1992, CEED students have received scholarships in excess of $1.4 million.

Each project is conducted under contract.  The contract provides clients with ownership of intellectual property, and confidentiality for the project.  The student is covered by insurance for personal injury, public & product liability and professional indemnity.  The student also signs a similar contract.

CEED students work on their project 3 days/week (sometimes more) throughout a semester (~13 weeks) – on-site, unless otherwise agreed.

Students are available for CEED projects over the following timeframes:  summer vacation + 1st semester (Nov/Dec-June), summer semester (Nov-Feb, for Masters students only), 1st semester (Feb-June), 2nd semester (July-Nov) each year.  Contact us to register your project for the appropriate time/semester (www.corptech.com.au / ceed@corptech.com.au).
